A true leak is local and literal: the stain sits below a specific point, traces upward to a penetration, valley, or flashing detail, and gets worse during and after rain. Condensation behaves differently. It shows up as widespread dampness or frost across many surfaces at once, appears during cold snaps regardless of whether it has rained in weeks, and peaks in the morning after the coldest nights.
